It's been two weeks now since I've written. SO MUCH has happened, as you might expect. We moved Cristina's stuff to Redlands on the 1st. We had the help of her mom and step-dad with their truck, my mom and dad with their truck and SUV, my brother with his truck, and thanks to my Uncle Cy for the use of his truck! So we spent the morning loading things into the trucks, one by one. The delicate items went into the SUV. Once we had packed everything into six vehicles (including Cristina's Civic), we all drove to Redlands. While Cristina and I signed paperwork, everyone else went for Chinese food. Of course, they were kind enough to bring some back for us. When they got back we got to unloading. In the course of things, I got to meet our next-door neighbor, Mike, who offered us a BBQ with a full tank of propane, which we used on the 4th. Once we unloaded the six vehicles, my dad, brother and I went to my house to pick up the refridgerator. It fit perfectly! We were done with the whole move by 3:30.
You can see pictures of the apartment here.
For a few days we had boxes everywhere. But we were having people over on the 4th of July. So we spent about 4 hours the night before getting the place ready for company. Cristina unpacked most of the kitchen stuff while I strategically stacked boxes into the office closet and unpacked a few essentials. The place is looking presentable now and we hope to keep it that way.
On the 4th Cristina was about to leave to the grocery store with a couple of friends. She came back and said she thought someone stole her car. She remembered parking it on the curb. So she and I went walking, trying to retrace her steps. Her car was nowhere to be found! Trying to remain calm, we began walking to our manager's place to report it, wondering if maybe she mistakenly parked in a no-parking zone, planning to call the police immediately after. But as we were walking down the hallway it dawned on us: I had picked her up from work the day before!
We had gone looking at three reception sites: Creatrice in Riverside, The Renaissance Hall in Redlands, and the Mitten Building in Redlands. Immediately following we met with our wedding planner, Rachel Stewart. We ended up talking and planning until 11pm. Afterwards we were pretty hungry so we went out looking for food. When we got back we decided to clean up the place, which took until about 4am. At that point I was beat and headed home to squeeze in as much sleep as I could (I had tickets to see Transformers at 10am). In all the busyness of the day we had forgotten to go back to pick up Cristina's car.
So she used my car for the day. And once everyone had gone home at around 11pm, we finally went to pick up her car.
In other apartment news, Cristina turned her keys in at her old place yesterday (July 12). I went over to vacuum and steam clean on Tuesday. And we both went over yesterday to finish cleaning. Cristina also submitted her change-of-address to the post office. We payed the last bills associated with the old place this week and ordered telephone and internet service for the new place. We should be connected again and updating the website more frequently by next week.
There's much more to tell but alas it is late. I will tell you what is coming up...
Tomorrow (Sat., July 14) we will be going to AAA in Riverside to see about making honeymoon arrangements, then going to Noyes Bakery in San Bernardino to order the wedding cake. Sunday we meet with Michael S. Kelley Photography at a bridal show in Redlands. Monday we expect our invitations to come in. So we will be working on addressing those. Tuesday we meet with David Blair Photography at a coffee shop in Riverside. Thursday we meet with an old high school friend of mine, Silas, a seasoned sound engineer, who will more than likely DJ for us. And you can bet any free time we have will soon be filled.
Stay tuned...
