And thanks to Evan for commenting. Except, I do understand, Evan, that you are disapproving of our choice to buy a PC.
From the beginning of thinking about a new computer, the question was never of whether we would switch to the dreaded and dreary MAC, but only of what brand we would get.
It turns out that the Circuit City sales came through for us. We found an HP quad-core, 8 gig, fully expandable computer for under $600. I am at this moment backing up files to our external hard drive. And I expect to have everything set up by tomorrow. It will of course take a little time to reinstall our programs.
As I said before, if even our doctors use HP, then I am quite comfortable with HP myself. I have used Hewlett-Packard computers and printers since the days of Windows 3.1. Even with my recent trouble with my laptop's screen HP has paid for shipping and fixed it for free. So, if nothing else, customer service has been great! Unless something horrible goes wrong with this new one, I'm willing to bet HP will have our business for years to come!
